AVG background
The General Data Protection Regulation (AVG) will replace the current privacy legislation as of May 25, 2018. The AVG contains rules for the (automatic) processing of personal data. This new European privacy law forces us to take more action and measures when we capture data about customers, staff or other individuals. It is therefore important that we are well prepared and aware of this legislation.
Personal Data
There are many types of personal data. The most obvious information is someone's name, address, and place of residence. But phone numbers and postal codes with house numbers are also personal data. Sensitive data such as someone's race, religion, or health is called special personal data. These are extra protected by law.
What do we register within the Founded in the North Foundation?
We register many things both online and offline that involve the AVG legislation:
• Call reports in Office365 (accessible via computer and mobile app);
• Evaluation interviews (both offline and in Office365);
• Contact details via the website (founded.in) of the Founded in the North Foundation + forms for newsletter or registration as a startup/scale-up;
• Project proposals, business plans, business cards (both offline and in Office365).
The Founded in the North Foundation processes personal data because you use our services and/or because you provide this information to us yourself. We register this in our CRM system. Personal data that is recorded here include name and address, position, telephone number and e-mail.
What security measures do we take?
- Software is protected by username and password;
- Computers and mobile phones are secured with a code and/or fingerprint;
- Network folders (Office365) are only accessible to users who have rights to do so;
- Our website uses a secure connection (https://);
- We draw up a confidentiality agreement to provide access to our data;
- We regularly inform and train our employees about privacy and how to handle sensitive information.
User Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
• Request access to the personal data that we process about you;
• Request correction or deletion of your personal data;
• To object to the processing of your personal data;
• Limiting the processing of your personal data;
• Transferring your data (data portability);
• File a complaint with the supervisory authority.
Retention period
We do not store your personal data longer than is strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which your data is collected.
Sharing with Third Parties
The Founded in the North Foundation only shares your personal data with third parties if this is necessary for the execution of an agreement with you, or to comply with a legal obligation.
Automated Decision Making
